Major General Saeed Aleem, HI(M), (Retd)Special Advisor - Disaster Management & Climate Change
Major General Muhammad Saeed Aleem was Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) from 2013 to 2015. He has rich experience in all aspects of disaster management and climate change including risk reduction, preparedness, response, early recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
He has held command, staff and instructional assignments in Pakistan Army in various parts of the country including a tenure at Siachen Glacier in Gilgit Baltistan where he experienced the impact of natural hazards from close quarters. He has also served on a diplomatic assignment as Defence Attaché in a Pakistani Mission abroad for three and a half years.
He graduated with a bachelor degree with a Gold Medal from Pakistan Military Academy Kakul in 1979. He then attended Army Staff Course at Royal Military College of Science Shrivenham and Staff College Camberley, UK in 1989. He is also a graduate of National Defence University, Islamabad where he was awarded a degree of Master of Science in War Studies. For his long and meritorious service, he has been conferred Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) on 23rd March, 2010 by the Government of Pakistan.
